Timberwolf 150DHB

People choose this chipper for 7 reasons:

  • Performance – Does exactly what is says on the can! Very fast work rate on the whole spectrum of green waste encountered in the UK.
  • Ease of use – Simple, robust, reliable controls make this chipper an efficient work tool for the operators.
  • Construction – Modular construction means the chipper is easy to maintain and service.
  • Price - A superb chipper for anyone looking for excellent all-round performance without paying an excessive price.
  • Weight – Sub 750kg (with full fuel tank, discharge tube and spare wheel fitted) means the chipper is easy to tow on normal vehicles. It will not destroy your vehicles axle or clutch. It can be manoeuvered by hand off the tow vehicle. And very importantly for a great many people it can be legally towed by drivers who have passed their driving test on or after 1 January 1997.
  • Backup – More than 70% of the UK population live or work within 1 hour of a Timberwolf dealer. The machine and all its parts are manufactured in the UK and are readily available.
  • Residual value – Not only is the machine sought after new, the same applies for secondhand ones too! After years of hard work the TW 150DHB can be worth thousands more than some other makes of a similar age and condition when it comes time to replace.

150DHB History

The TW 150DHB first came into production in 1995 and instantly took the market by storm.
Arguably the 1st chipper to offer genuine chipping performance in an easily manoeuverable compact machine at an affordable price.

By 1997 the word was out and this machine became the top selling professional chipper in the UK. Today the same remains true as the TW 150DHB still represents outstanding value for money for its performance.

Although the outline shape of the machine has not changed much over the years, it has had the benefit of continuous development within our R&D (Research and Development) department to ensure the machines performance has kept up with the high demands of today’s professional arborist.

As with all good machinery the difference is in the detail; here are just a few details that help to create the compact TW 150DHB chipper:

  • The feed funnel is oversized and specifically designed to assist the feed rollers in pulling the material into the chipping chamber.
  • The 2 feed rollers each have 6 tough, distinct blades mounted onto the roller. These blades actually bite into the material and grip it so the full power of the hydraulic motors can be used to crush and pull the material into the chipping chamber.
  • Each roller has its own hydraulic motor for maximum power and performance.
  • The feed rate of the material is electronically controlled by a specially developed speed controller; the unit ensures consistent, rapid intake of material without overloading the engine or blocking the chipper.
  • Kubota V1505 engine. A proper engine! Not air cooled – water cooled. Not 2 or 3 cylinders but 4 cylinders! Not the V1205 or the V1305 but the top of the range V1505! This is an engine that has been designed to work for many, many years with minimal downtime. It is a Japanese engine and is fitted to 100’s of thousands of good quality groundcare machinery throughout the world. This is not an engine you fit if you are trying to build a machine on a budget! Don’t believe us? When comparing the price of chippers from other manufacturers, look at the price of machines fitted with Kubota compared with those that have different engines. These engines are not cheap – but why would you want a cheap engine?
Working with the TW150DHB

This chipper is fully a professional’s machine capable of an immense amount of work over many years.

The machine weighs 748kg so can be towed on a normal driving licence (even for those who passed their driving test on or after 1 January 1997).The low centre of gravity and large wheels make it an easy and safe machine to tow. When unhitched from the vehicle it is light enough to be moved around by 2 people.

The engine is a Kubota V1505, 4 cylinder water cooled diesel engine that produces 35hp. The TW 150DHB has an 18 litre (4 gallon) fuel tank and can chip for up to 5-7 hours without refueling.

Only when you start to chip will you understand how amazing this machine is. All of the design comes superbly together and you will find the feed funnel at the ideal feed height, the controls simple and easy to use, the rollers fast and powerful, the automatic feed speed controller extremely reactive and the job done in no time!

On the back of the rotor are 10 aerodynamic fans that create positive air pressure within the rotor housing; this enables the TW 150DHB to handle extremely leafy or wet material without blocking. This chipper gives superb performance regardless of the weather, season or type of material being processed!

The TW 150DHB has a high discharge tube designed to load efficiently straight into the back of a truck. If required, the discharge tube can easily be rotated through 270 degrees and the discharge bucket can be adjusted so the chips can be placed exactly where the operator wants them.

The TW 150DHB’s chipping performance comes from 2 blades. Mind you, they are not just any old blade; the 100mm (4”) blades are made from a special Swedish steel that has been developed specifically for large scale commercial chipping. The blades are extremely tough without being brittle and can process many tonnes of material before they need sharpening. With around 10mm of sharpening scope they can be sharpened repeatedly until the wear limit is reached.

Access to the blades is easy and blade change access is exposed with the removal of only 2 bolts on the rotor housing. The blades are retained by 3 torx screws in each and the whole blade changing process takes around 15 minutes.

If you are engaged in one or more of the following, the TW 150DHB is worth serious consideration:

    • Landscaper – medium to large size landscapers involved in larger scale tree and hedge maintenance will find this an ideal machine for getting the work done quickly and efficiently.
    • Established tree surgery business – A superb chipper for everyday use. Will easily keep up with the work rate of a 4 man gang. A real money earner and a wise investment.
